How to cite a book, picture, map or music
Sometimes it can be difficult to know how to cite material that has been found online and the National Library’s discovery service Trove is one such resource.
As a result we’ve created a mechanism that makes it easier and it’s just a click of a button and then copy and paste the citation of your choice.
To cite a book / picture / map / music
- Navigate to the book record you would like to cite
- Scroll to the ‘Edition details’ section of the record
- Click on the ‘Cite this’ button
- A pop up screen will be displayed with examples of commonly used citation styles, copy the citation that is most appropriate.
We recommend that you use the ‘Work Identifier’ rather than the URL as the URL is subject to change.
**All citations are automatically generated and may require some modification to conform to exact standards.
