The South Australia’s History Festival is held throughout May and consists of a program featuring hundreds of events ranging from talks to tours, walks to workshops and exhibitions to special events. With a 2024 theme of Power and a collection of strong focus programs and several Trove workshops this year festival is shaping up to be a unique history event.

This year Trove Partners' and others are holding workshops throughout the festival that features Trove and other online databases.  

Events are free but most do require bookings.

Introduction to Ancestry and Trove

Facilitated by our experienced family history volunteers, this free information session will provide knowledge on how to use online databases Ancestry and Trove. At the end of the session there will be allocated time for hands-on practice.

Members of the Port Lincoln History Group will share their knowledge and experience in researching by providing one-on-one hourly training sessions in a range of topics. Learn how to use your choice of Trove, Ancestry, National Archives, cemetery searches, Land Title searches, and genealogy programs.

  • First Nations (opportunities to reflect on and learn about First Nations histories, cultures, and achievements)

  • Rainbow History (events that showcase the contributions and histories of the state’s LGBTQIA+ communities and promote support, acceptance and pride)

  • From Many Place (highlights South Australia’s diverse multicultural communities and their rich heritage and traditions)

  • Open Doors (highlighting heritage buildings and/or architectural history)

  • Children and Family (activities specifically dedicated to children under 15)
