Troubleshooting

TIF files

Publication-quality images, such as maps, are available as TIF files. These files are often quite large and you may encounter difficulties downloading them. Some public networks or wifi connections have limits on the amount of data that can be used. If you have a slow internet connection, the download can "time out" and cause an error.

If this happens, download the item using a different computer or internet connection (e.g. from home, office, public library, family or friend) and save the file to a portable storage device.

PDF font pack

Some text in digitised items goes through an automated Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process. As a result, letters can be identified and interpreted differently when downloaded as a PDF.

If this happens, try downloading the article as image or text or installing the font pack from Adobe.

Order a copy

If the download options don't meet your needs, you can order copies using the National Library of Australia's Copies Direct service.
