NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES.
APPLICATIONS will be received from persons qualified
for appointment to the positions specified below.
Applicants outside the Public Service are'eligible for ap
pointment to (1) the Administrative Division, (2) the Pro
fessional Division, and (3) to the General Division where
indicated, but are not eligible for appointment to the Clerical
Division unless qualified under the provisions of the Public
Service Act.
Applications must be in the applicant's handwriting,
should show fully qualifications for the position sought, and
must, to insure consideration, he forwarded to the Public
Service Inspector in the State in which the vacancy exists
in time to reach the oigce of the Public Service Inspector
not later than the date shown in each case.
in the case of oliicers of the Commonwealth Public Service
applications should be forwarded through the Department to
which the officer is attached.
In the case of applicants who are officers of the Public Ser
vice of the Commonwealth or of a State the following par
ticulars should be set out at the foot of the application:—
Designation
Office or Branch
Age last birthday (in years)
Length of service (in yearB)
Salary (per annum)
Date of receipt of present salary
Applicants from outside the Service should state full name
and date and year of birth, also place of birth and whether
they are natural-born or naturalized British subjects. Copies
only of diplomas, references, testimonials, or certificates should
be forwarded. If the originals are required they will be asked
for.
Fares to locality of appointment of persons appointed from
outside the Service will not be paid by the Commonwealth
unless such fare exceeds £3, when such allowance as the cir
cumstances justify may be granted.
The range of salary indicates the classified value of a posi
tion, but appointments may be made at any salary within
such range. Cost of living allowances are subject to review
by the Arbitration Court from time to time. Successful ap
Ijointees must comply with the life assurance previsions of the
r'ublic Service Act and Kegulations.
Officers promoted to positions in the Fourth Class, which
come within the scope of the award of the Australian Com
monwealth Public Service Clerical Association, may be re
tained at the salary of £245 where, in the opinion of the
Acting Commissioner, the fixing of that salary as a maximum
is justified. -
Officers who may be transferred without promotion or in
crease of salary, as the result of an application for an adver
tised vacancy, will be required to pay their own expenses of
removal unless the transfer comes within the conditions pre
scribed in Public Service Regulation No. 54.
Particulars of existing quarters are furnished merely for
the information of officers. It is not incumbent on Depart
ments to provide quarters, which, if provided^ may be wholly
or partially withdrawn at any time.
