land, Campbell Town,
will be the setting for the
wedding this evening of
Caroline Davidson to Ken-
neth Milbourne. Caroline,
who was a nursing sister at
the Launceston General
Hospital, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. G. Davidson.
Her two attendants are
Beverley Wotten and Freda
Davidson.

Trevallyn Rd., left
for a holiday in Mel-
bourne on Saturday. She
is making the Victoria
her headquarters.

BEST wishes are being re-
ceived by Mary Newton
and John Leishman, whose
engagement has just been
announced. Mary is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
A. A. Newton, Dineen St.,
and John the son of Mrs.
A. Leishman, South Yarra
(Vic.), and the late Mr.
Leishman. As yet the couple
have no definite wedding
plans. Mary's ring is a soli-
taire diamond with two tiny
diamonds at each side. She
and her fiance have just re-
turned from Melbourne af-
ter spending 10 days staying
with Mrs. Leishman.
SOUTHERN visitor who
was the guest of Mr.
and Mrs. P. A. Frith, Tre-
vallyn, for the week-end
was Barbara Finn, Cygnet.
Barbara was among guests
from all parts of the state
at the party given by Mr.
and Mrs. Frith for the
coming-of-age of their son,
Denis, who is a final year
engineering student at Ho-
bart University. Many peo-
ple will be interested to
hear news of Mrs. Frith's
sister, Mrs. R. A. Ferrall,
who is on her way to Eng-
land in the Orion. Mrs. Fer-
rall writes that she is hav-
ing a delightful trip, and
was touched by gifts of
flowers sent to the ship by
friends at Melbourne, Ade-
laide and Fremantle. Young-
er son, Michael, who is tra-
velling with her, has won
several of the ship's sports
tournaments.
MRS. R. G. O'Connor, Con-
norville, returned on
Tuesday from Melbourne,
where she was a guest at the
ball at Government House
given for the Queen and the
Duke of Edinburgh. Gowns
worn at this function, said
Mrs. O'Connor, were superb.
Mr. Roderic O'Connor, who
accompanied his mother to
the mainland, will return at
the week-end.

MRS. M. C. Lee, formerly
Barbara Green, Laun-
ceston, and now of Mel-
bourne, was a guest at the
ball at Government House,
Melbourne, last Thursday
in honour of the Queen and
the Duke of Edinburgh.
TWO hundred will attend
the dance at Fitzpatrick's
Inn, Westbury. Kerry's
mother, Mrs. W. F. Archer,
Brickendon, Longford, will
help him entertain.
Richard, who is the son
of Mr .and Mrs. Colin Bar-
nett, McRae's Hill, Cressy,
and Kerry will sail in the
Strathnaver.
AFTER an all-too-brief
period of residence
in Launceston, Mr. and
Mrs. Keith Williams are
returning to make their
home again in Mel-
bourne, where Keith has
been transferred by his firm.
Since they came to Laun-
ceston in January last year
Keith, an outstanding tenor,
has been in the forefront of
musical activities, taking
part in productions by the
Tasmanian Musical Festival
Society and the Launceston
Philharmonic Society, as
well as being a member of
the choir of Chalmers
Church. Fellow choristers
gave a supper party as a
farewell last Sunday even-
ing, and on Tuesday another
party took place at the home
of Mrs. A. L. Vanneck and
her daughter, Pamela.

TWO week's holiday at
Low Head began this
week for Mrs. F. G. N.
Ewence, her daughter,
Dana, and her sister-in-
law, Mollie Ewence,
Warrnambool (Vic.).
They are staying at Mr.
and Mrs. M. L. Fother-
ingham's cottage.
TWO Launceston friends,
Betty Hesketh and Jill
Calvert, left yesterday for
an extended working holi-
day in Perth (W.A.). Jill's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.
A. Calvert, Nunamara, en-
tertained about 150 guests
last Saturday night to
celebrate her 21st birthday.
The travellers expect to be
home at the end of the
year.

Miss Propsting, who comes
from Bendigo, is enjoying an

and Mrs. Denis Lovibond,
Lindisfarne.
HONEYMOON in Tasman-
ia for Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Sloane, who were
married in Melbourne on
Tuesday evening. They will
tour the island before re-
turning to live in Geelong.
Mrs. Sloane was formerly
Valerie McLoughlin, of
Brighton. Her sister Cynthia
has spent holidays with
friends in Tasmania. After
the wedding, at which she
was bridesmaid, Cynthia at-
tended the Royal Civic Ball
at the Exhibition Building.

on Saturday is that of
Kathleen, second daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Lane,
Malunnah, to Geoffrey, eld-
est son of Mr. and Mrs. E.
W. Christie, Lime Ave.,
Launceston. The ceremony
will take place at Our Lady
of Lourdes Church and will
be followed by a reception
at the home of the bride's
parents. The bride will be
attended by her sister,
Mary.
LADY von Bibra returned
to Launceston on Mon-
day from Hobart, and is
staying with her mother,
Mrs. C. J. Shields, Hill St.
Sir Eric and Lady von Bibra
will be sailing for England
from Hobart on April 6 in
the Port Jackson. Dr. and
Mrs. T. G. H. Hogg and
daughter Susan, Launceston,
will also be passengers in
the ship.
DATE at the end of this
month is set for the
wedding in Hobart of
June Brown and Christo-
pher Butler. Both are
well known in the North.
June is a physiotherapist
and spent some months at
the Launceston General
Hospital at the end of
last year. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
A. B. Brown, Fitzroy
Place.
FRIENDS of Mrs. E. O.
Bisdee will be pleased
to hear she has recovered
sufficiently from her recent
illness in Launceston to re-
turn this week to her home

from Melbourne on Tues-

seeing her while she and
her husband spend a few
days in Launceston with
Alma's mother.

air on Monday to Sydney.

cation scholarship to the
University of Melbourne

ens, is Ken Davies whose
engagement to their daugh-
ter, Prudence, has just
been announced. The cou-
ple met during a trip over-
seas about 18 months ago.
Ken is a chemist and lives
at Canberra. Prue is an old
girl of M.L.C.
