ALBANIAN REVOLT.
A'T-ACK ON THE AUSTIlIANS.
Athens, August 3.--Twenty thousand Albhanians
are in revolt at El Bassan, Tirana, and Dur
azzo. They htve burned their barracks, and
lave attnekMl the Austro-Bulgarian forces.
New York, August 3.-It was announced to
day that the British steamer Britannic, owned
by WV. H. Cockerline and Co., 8847 ,tons, has
keen sunk.
The Germans fear Ihat the British warships
will break through into tile Ba!tic. Fiftee.
Zeppelins are now operating in the Baltic. Most
of the. German warships are still undergoing
repairs, as a result of the Jutland battle.
Nine Italians neropllanes bombed bridges, bar
racks, and aviation otations at Durazzo, in
Albania.
AIr. Asquith received a deputation from mem
bers of the House of Commons representing
1,2501000 workers. The Governmeno t was urged
to see that labour conditions were not allowed
to be cheapened by discharged soldiers and
enailors.
Mr. Balfour. First Lourd of the Admiralty, has.
issued a review of tlhe naval situation on the
second anniversary of the war. "Allied diplo
matists have assured me," he says "that the
Jutland battle -an the turning point in thIe
war."
SI. Venizelos so far has won seven electorates,
including Athlens. Patras,,and Salonica.
The authorities have declined the Turkish
offer of peace.
Amsterdpu, Aug. 3.-An Austrian communi
que states tlhat the Austrians captured an Ita
lioan submarine in the Adriatic and made prt
aonors of the crew.
Rome, Auguest 3.-An Italian freeholder liv
ing in Austrian territory joined the Italian
aIrmy, but his son remained in Austria. Ite
cently an Austrian patrol, the members of
which included lis son, captured the father in
the Trentino, and the son was compelled to
take part in the shooting of his father as a
deserter.
