MR. R. W. PEARSON. M.P., TO
TAKE PART
- Mr. R. W. Pearson, who passed
through Port Lincoln on Monday last, '
stated that he had agreed to a re
quest made to him - as Government
Whip in this State at the week-end
,Jby the Liberal and Country League,
a that he should ko to Victoria on
Iku/ JViday to address a meeting in con
WZ nection with the State elections to
f ; be held there on Saturday.
He will accordingly fly to Mount
Ganibier on Friday and proceed to
Port Fairy for a meeting there on
Friday night, returning to Adelaide
-by plane on Saturday.
Mr. Pearson stated that South Aus
tralia has a very real interest in this
election in view of the Premier's an
nouncement that his Government will
contest the validity of the proposed
Commonwealth Banking Act, now be
fore Federal Parliament, in the High
Court in the event of it being
assented to by the Governor-General.
If an anti-Labor Government is re
turned on Saturday in that State the
new Government is pledged to sup
port South Australia in this important
action. It is anticipated that the
Cain Government will be defeated at
the polls on Saturday in Victoria.
