Crops are looking well and filling;
out nicely since the light rain and
cool days, and a fair harvest should
be assured. Hay carting will be
starting shortly.
The monthly meeting of . the Coun
try Women's Association was held on
October 24, Mrs. M. Murnane oc
cupied the chair. There were some
prettily covered coat hangers brought
along for the forthcoming fair. Mrs.
J. Murnane secured first prize and
Mrs. M. Murnane second. It nas
been decided to hold the Christmas
tree on December 18. Miss A. 'Waters
brought some beautiful flowers along
.for the trading table, for which there
was ready sale.
The tennis season opened on Oc
tober 26 with' a match with Yeelanna
Blues, which resulted in a win for
Cockaleechie — 12 sets to 3.
The local cricketers played Kapin
nie last Saturday, scores .being : —
Cockaleechie, 7 wickets for 133;
Kapinnie, all out, 72. M. Murnane
secured most wickets with 7 for 10
runs. His bowling figures are 12
-wickets for- 19- runs — a .. promising ,
