CORRESPONDENCE.
Bush Fin Control.
Highways Department forwarding
copy of resolutions passed at recent
conference on Bush Fire Control and
asking that any suggested amend
ments to the Bush Fires Act be sub
mitted to the Minister of Agriculture.
It was resolved to recommend that
the Act be amended by making it
compulsory for all landholders to pro
vide an adequate fire-break round
all ^cultivated areas. It 'is believed
that the cost of such fire-breaks will
be more than compensated for by the
additional safety provided. In addi
tion the presence of such breaks
would give the fire control officer an
opportunity of formulating a plan for
dealing with an outbreak with the
least possible delay.

stated that it was within the power
of the council to serve a notice on

him to take measures to abate the
drift. Accordingly it was resolved
to serve notice as provided in the Act.

absence of a suitably defined landing
ground far aircraft at Wudinna. Dur
ing recent weeks two patients had
been transferred from the hospital by
aeroplane to Adelaide, and this fact
together with the growing popularity
of travel by air indicates the neces
sity of providing a suitable aero

GENERAL BUSINESS.
.Gifts for Hospital Use.
Cr. McBeath mentioned the desira
bility of encouraging gifts to the
hospital. At present there are quite
a number of people who make a prac
tice of assisting the maintenance of
the hospital by gifts of fruit, vege
tables, jam and dairy produce, and
old linen suitable for dusters, etc.,
and the opinion was expressed that
there would no doubt be many others
who would be pleased to assist if it
were generally known that such gifts
would be acceptable.
It was resolved that each Board
member endeavor to establish a depot
in his centre for the receipt of gifts,
and a special effort be made at given
periods. The secretary was instruc
ted to record such gifts through the
monthly'press report, and to intimate
that the matron will be pleased to
receive same at any time.
