FREELING.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of
the birth of Mr. F. E. Heinicke, pro
prietor of the Railway Hotel, Freeling,
a surprise party was tendered to him
by relatives and friends. Over 200
people were present, including several
car loads from Clare and Adelaide.
The Freeling Town Band, of which
Mr. Heinicke is a playing member,
rendered selections outside his home,
and then the huge gathering gathered
in Mr. Heinicke's assembly hall. The
main feature of the evening was danc
ing, the music being supplied by the
Town Band, Miss Elva Heinicke and
Messrs C. A. Neindorf and R. Handke.
The conductor of the band was Mr.
C. A. Neindorf and the master of
ceremonies was Mr. E. O. Hanisch.
Mr. Heinicke was presented with a
smokery stand from his many friends.
The presentation was made by Mr. V.
H. Hese who was supported by Mr.
E. R. Schaefer. Other speakers were
—Mr. C. Schmidt (on behalf of the
visitors), and Mr. C. A. Neindorf
(band). Mr. Heinicke suitably respon
ded. A huge birthday cake was made
and presented by Mrs. E. O. Hanisch,
and was cut by the guest of honor.
Among the Adelaide visitors were a
team of Sturt bowlers headed by Mr.
J. Paine.
