country; party decision
Mr. R. 0. Gibson, Country party
candidate for the Richmond seat, has
been endorsed by the central council
of the party. < This news was tele
graphed from Sydney yesterday to Mr.
F. Crowther, secretary of the Rich
mond electoral council of the party. •
Mr. Gibson has spent the week tour
ing the Tweed River district, and, will
work back to Lismore to-day to spend
Sunday at home. He will Bpeak to
day at Cudgera at 11 a.m., Tumbulgum
at 3 p.m., Burringbar at 7 p.m., and
Billinudgel at 8 p.m. He will spend
the first three days of next week in
the Tentcrfield district.
Twenty-six persons attended a meet
ing at Mt. Burrell, where a strong
committee was formed, with Mr. A.
Baxter as secretary. Mr. R. Spurway
was appointed et-cretary of a committee
to work in Mr. Gibson's interests at
Byrrill Creek.
Kunghur and Doon Doon were visit
ed, and at night Mr. Gibson addressed
a big representative gathering at Uki.
Mr. W. Grant piesided. At the con
clusion of his address, Mr. Gibson was
accorded a vote of confidence, at the
instance of Mr. R. Spurway. A strong
committee was appointed, Mr. J. G.
Buchanan being elected secretary. Mr.
J. Transton'is secretary of a campaign
committee at Terragon.
A campaign committee in support
of Mr. R. C. Gibson, was formed in
Alstonville on Thursday night at a
meeting held in the show secretary's
office. Mr. W. A. Crawford was voted
to the chair, and he was also appoint
ed convener of the Alstonville com
mittee. Mr. p. O. Clark was appointed
convener for Lynwood, and Messrs.
Robt. Sneath and R. S. "Watts for Wol
longbar. The combined committees
will meet from time to time. An
effort is to be made to have Mr. Gib
son revisit Alstonville to deliver an
other address before polling day.
Satisfaction was expressed that the en
dorsement had been extended to Mr.
Gibson by the Country party central
executive.
