POLICE COURT.

trace, and George Board Esq., J.P.)
DRUNKARDS - John Woods, first offence, 10s, or six
hours.
ASSAULT - William Nickells was charged with
assaulting on John Burns. Defendant pleaded
guilty as also provocation. Prosecutor being called
did not appear, and the defendant was discharged.
INDECENCY - Benjamin Johnson and Margaret
Firlong were each fined 20s, or twenty-four hours
for this offence.
BRUTAL ASSAULT - Bernard Ryan was again placed
before the Bench. James Bartlett, the prosecutor,
deposed - Last Sunday week, this assault occurred
at about five miles from the Separation Inn, at the
door of a hut, the place belongs to Mr Cameron ; I
was assaulted at 11 o'clock in the morning ; Mr
