GAWLER.
Gawler. November 24.
A meeting of the subscribers of the Gawler
Institute was held on Tuesday evening last to,
further consider the proposed building altera
tion Bcheme, and the contemplated amend
ment of rule 12. The president (Mr. A. G.
Wells) occupied the chair, between 20 and 30
subscribers being present. The requisite
notice of one .month having been given -Mr.~
E. £L Goombe formally proposed that the
alteration be oonhrmed, and that we neces
sary steps be taken to secure tb a governor's
approval Seconded by Mr. R. Burnard and
carried. The bon. secretary (Mr. E. Lucas)
explained the details of the proposed altera
tions, and estimated the cost at £274. On the
motion of Mr. C. Potter it) was -resolved —
'That this meeting approves of the sohemeas
submitted, or any 'modification thereof which
the committee may deem necessary, and here
by authorises the committee to take the neces
sary steps to carry the same into effect.' Mr.
IL J. Leicester proposed— 'That before
tenders are accepted for the work the com
mittee shall have in hand for the building
fund not less than one-third of the required
sum.' This was seconded by Sir. James
Bobinson and carried.
