MR. THOMAS LLOYD
Mr. Thomas Lloyd, of Birdwood who
died recently at the age of 95, was a
colonist of 87 years. Born in Here-
ford, Wales, in 1836, he came to South
Australia with his parents about eight
years later. For a while they lived
at Milang, until Mr. Thomas Lloyd
became interested in mining, and fol-
lowed the gold rush to Victoria. Later
he lived at Echunga, and in 1865 mar-
ried Miss Louisa Mincham, eldest
daughter of the late Mr. W. Mincham,
of Echunga. After spending a few
years in the Maitland district, Mr.
Lloyd moved to Birdwood (then Blum-
berg), where he remained until the
time of his death, having been a re-
sident of the district for 40 years. His
wife predeceased him by about two
years. He leaves one daughter, Mrs.
E. Jacobs, of Crystal Brook, and seven
sons—Messrs. E. T. Lloyd (Campbell-
town), J. E. Lloyd (Marbellup, W.A.),
I. W. Lloyd (Paracombe), H. Lloyd
(Goodwood), Jacob Lloyd, Jos. Lloyd,
and D. J. Lloyd (Birdwood). There
are also 46 grand-children and 44 great-
grand-children.
