INCREASED ENROLMENT IT
HIGH SCHOOLS
268 MORE PUPILS THIS YEAR
Extra Accommodation Provided N
There are 268 more pupils attending
the high schools in the metropolitan
area this year compared with last year,
the figures being 3,353 in 1930 and 3,621
in 1931.
The^^enrblments for the past two
years and for this year at the respec
tive schools, according to officials of
the Education Department, have
been: —

Extra accommodation has been pro
vided to meet the situation. The
greatest proportional increase Is at .
Unley, and as the building for the Agri
cultural High School at Urrbrae is not
being occupied this year it is being
utilised, without additional expense, to
take the overflow from Unley. Ad
justments have been made at Wood
ville to provide for the increased num- !
ber of pupils. At the Adelaide High,
School the position is being met by
utilising extensions to the Currie
street school. At Norwood, where the
addition is only 28, satisfactory ar
rangements are being made without
difficulty.
Decrease at Thebarton
There is a decrease in the enrolment
at the Thebarton Technical High
School by 61, the 'figures being: — 1930,
491; and 1931, 430. In 1929 the num
ber was 434.
The figures for the central schools s
are not yet available, but from those
received it is evident that there has
been a large Increase in enrolments.
The increases have been most marked
at Goodwood, Port Adelaide, and
Norwood.
