I PENGUIN.
I -?
[From a Correspondent.] There
was a meeting of the shareholders of the
Penguin Prospecting Association at the Temperance
Hall on Saturday last, and I hear that resolutions
were passed that operations are to be commenced
shortly for thoroughly testing their claim on the
Laurel Creek, near Mount Housetop, as they have
a very good road cleared through, which will do so
much more for the Pine Road route in the direction
of the projected Bischoff line. It is also thought
the tin from the new claims, a short distance
further, IS likely to be brought down this road
While speaking of roads and road making,
I may just as well ask why and where-
fore should some of the roadmaking be given
to favourites at prices they like to name,
and others have no chance to tender, or
even know anything about it when lot 7 I can tell
you it is time there was a change in the Lands and
Works department, and that a radical one right
through, and down from the top to the bottom
Here is a lot of money voted for certain cross and
by roads in this district, and bore is the proper
time for road making going away, and nothing done
about it.
The weather is everything that can be desired
The great circus plays at the Leven to night, and a
great many are preparing to see the first that has
entered so far on the coast, but the time will soon
arrive when every place to Circular Head will be
able to support a good company of the kind
