REGATTA, in commemoration of the
discovery of the Island of Van Diemen's Land,
will take place at the Pavilion Point on Wednesday,

FIRST RACE.
Gigs pulling four oars, to proceed round a boat
moored off Cornelian Bay, from thence round a
boat moored off Judge Montagu's Point, and back
to the place of starting.
First boat, twenty sovereigns, presented by His
Excellency Sir E. Eardley-Wilmot, Bart. Second
boat, ten sovereigns.
SECOND RACE.
Six-oared whaleboats, to take the same course
as the gigs.
First boat, a purse of thirty sovereigns from
the Regatta Fund, second boat, twenty sovereigns ;
third boat, ten sovereigns.
THIRD RACE.
First-class sailing boats, keel not to exceed
thirty feet, to take the same course as the gigs.
First boat, twenty-five sovereigns; second boat,
fifteen sovereigns.
FOURTH RACE.
five-oared whaleboats, to take the same course
as the gigs. First
boat, a purse of twenty sovereigns; second
boat, twelve sovereigns; third boat, six sovereigns.
FIFTH RACE.
Second-class sailing-boats, keel not to exceed
twenty-five feet, to take the same course as the
gigs.
First boat, twenty sovereigns ; second boat, ten
sovereigns.
SIXTH RACE.
Licensed watermen pulling in four-oared whale

SEVENTH RACE.
River craft, not to exceed twenty-five tons, to
take same course as the gigs.
First boat, to enty-fivo sovereigns ; second boat,
twenty sovereigns ; third boat, ten sovs reigns.
RULES AND REGULATIONS.
Entries to be made at the Courier Office on or
before 12 o'clock on Monday, the 1st December.
Entrance money for each boat, £1.
Four boats to start for each match, or no race.
Each pulling boat will be provided with a distinguishing
flag and staff from the Committee, to
be carried in the bow.
All sailing boats to carry any and what sail
they please ; no boat will be allowed to use oars,
take in or throw out ballast after starting ; boats
on the port tack to bear up for those on the star-
board tack ; a boat fouling another to be considered
distanced.
No winning boat will be permitted to start in
any other race.
Subscribers of £1 to the Regatta Fund will be
allowed to erect private booths, application for
which must be made on the ground between the
hours of 2 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon on
Monday and Tuesday, the 24th and 25th instant,
when two Members of the Committee will be in
attendance.
Publicans' booths £2 2s. ; same application as
above. T
' Should the weather prove favourable, guns will
be fired at 8 o'clock in the morning from the
Battery ; but if the weather is unfavourable, two
whalers'' flags will be hoisted at the masthead of
the shipping signal staff.
The 1st race to start at 10 o'clock a.m.
The usual flotilla will start from the New Wharf
at 9 o'clock, when all boats are requested to be
in attendance.? The
Committee confidently rely on the exertions
of all parties to preserve the strictest order and
in acknowledging the liberal support they
have already met with, beg to solicit further subscriptions
in support of this Regatta.
