Local Exhibits Wanted.
HOBART, Monday. - Tho acting
Premier (Mr. E. Dwyer Gray) stated
yesterday that he had received the fol
lowing cablegram from the Premier
(Mr. A. G. Ogilvie, X.C.) in Lon
don:
"Have concluded very satisfactory
arrangement with the High Commis
sioner for better accommodation for
London officers. New accommodation
is on ground floor; there is large win
dow space and good entrance from
street, so that no longer will we be sub
merged in back street overlooking lane.
It is highly desirable that the best pos
sible display be made when now offices
are first occupied. There is nothing
suitable for display available here now.
Endeavor to obtain from patriotic citi
zens at earliest possible opportunity a
range of exhibits on following lines:
(1) blankets and other made-up wool
len articles; (2) products of Cadbury's;
(3) small articles of locally-made
furniture; (4) products of tinning fac
tories, including fruit salads; (5) made
up furs, etc.; (6) good range of min
erals; (7) worsteds and yarns and any
other suitable exhibits. We expect to
enter into occupation by the end of
September."
The acting-Premier said that the
Government would take all possible
steps to fulfil the. Premier's wishes. He
would be pleased to hear from Tas
manian firms interested in the proposed
display.
