BUTTER MARKET SLOW.
Australian Salted to 1021.
LAUNCESTON, Friday.-The fol
lowing cable has been received from
the London Agency of the Dairy Ex
port Control Board:
"LTh butter market is slow now.
Sales of Australian for the week ended
last Tuesday totalled 43,000 boxes, and
the average prices of the salted and
unsalted 'Kangaroo' were 102/6 and
107/ respectively. Ruling quotations
are: Danish, 124/; Now Zealand, finest,
102/; salted 'Kangaroo,' 101/ to 102/;
first grade, 00/ to 100/; unsalted
'Kangaroo,' 106/ to 108/. Retail prices:
Empire, 1/1; others, unchanged.
"Stocks of Australian consignments
unsold total 59,000 boxes. The quan
tity of Australian butter in Hay's
Wharf stores is 41,000 boxes, and of
Now Zealand 1S5,000 boxes.
"New Zealand cheese is 52/, and
Australian 50/ to 51/. The market is
slow.
"Recorded butter imports up to
Nov. 6 were: New Zealand, 2500 tons;
Denmark, 1700; Ireland, 315; Canada,
225; Lithuania, 195; Netherlands, 190;
Sweden, 160; Latvia, 140; Esthonia,
110; others, 265; Australia (actual ar
rivals), 1479. Total, 7279 tons."
