SWIMMERS AND
THE TESTS
National Titles
CHALLENGES WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED

To allow the Board of Control to de
cide this State's representatives at the
next national swimming championships!
to be held in Brisbane and Sydney early
in the new year, it has been decided to
'hold tests during the second and third
weeks in December.
The tests will be held as follows: — ?
Men, 100 yards, 220, 440 and 880
free-style.
.luniors,- 100 yards free-style. /
Women, 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards
free-style.
I 'Junior women, 100 yards free-style.
The board has agreed that any State
championships conducted during the
Board of Control championships may
also serve as tests for these distances.
I In past years challenges would fel
low the tests, and sometimes endless
trouble would ensue. This year the
board has decided that in no circum
stances will challenges be permitted.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The following State championships aro
.still available for application by clubs.
Early application should be made for
events, with the date of the proposed
narnivals and fche fee of £2 12s 6d foj
each event.
Men. — 440 yards and 100 yards junior
free-style; 220 yards and 100 yards
junior breast stroke; 100 yards junior
backstroke; 300 yards medley (100
yards ? free-style. 100 yards backstroke..
100 'yards breaststroke).
, Women.— 100. 220, 880 yards and 100
yards junior free-style ; 100 yards back
stroke, and 400 yards teams race (four
to a team, each to swim 100 yards)..
If two or more clubs apply for.. 'the
same date or event, the result will Dp
decided by ballot. ;;
Provided that State championships
are still available, clubs who apply for
two or more championships will be
given another championship event by'tlit1.

FIRST CARNIVAL
The first of the State championship
carnivals will be conducted by'; th''
Board of/Control on Wednesday, De
cember 20. ??: '
The Swim Through Perth is on Feb;
ruary 17. The board desires clubs f
make application for their marathon
swims at once, fixing a date which
should be before February 17.
At the board meeting on November 1-J
the dates for all fixtures will be allo
cated.
The quarterly general meeting of the
association will be held at. the Amateur
Sports Club next Tuesday evening ai
8 p.m.'
MARINE EXCURSION
The annual marine excursion to Rott
nest will be on Sunday, November 19.
Handicap swimming events will be held
during the afternoon, and trophies to thp
value of £5 5s will be donated by Mr.
Rex, of 'the Hostel. The Zephyr will
leave Barrack-street at 10.30 a.m., call
ing at Como, Claremont, and Fremantle,
and -returning from Kottnest at 6 p.m.
