A magistrate today sen
tenced a man to six months
gaol on one charge and
fined him on three others.
But the man is now in the
Eastern States.
Leo Patrick Kennedy, for
merly of Wellington-s.t, Perth,
left for the Eastern States on
June 7. Four summonses were
sei-ved on him at Perth rail
way station as he was leaving.
Penalties imposed on Ken
nedy in the Perth Traffic Court
today were a sequel to his wild
truck driving in Main-st., Os
borne Park, on March 11, when
he:
●Struck a motor cyclist,
knocking him off his cycle.
●Careered on and crashed into
the back of a small car, smash
ing its rear window.
●Was caught alter a chase by
the driver of the car, but sud
denly drove off, leaving the
man standing.
Kennedy was sentenced to
gaol for having failed to stop
and render assistance to the
injured motor cyclist, and fin
ed £5 for having driven negli
gently, £5 for having failed to
report the accident and £1 for
having driven a vehicle with
out holding a driver's licence.
Commented the Magistrate:
'It appears that Kennedy de
liberately collided with these
two vehicles. It was a callous
action.'
