PROVINCE
GAMES
Students' Fighting
Chance
WESTS MUST WIN
With the first and second teams
on the premiership list in pro
vince cricket certain to be de
feated tomorrow, the main com
petition of the W.A. Cricket
Association has suddenly been
invested with a surprise ele
ment of intense interest.
University, who have recently made a
fighting recovery from last position, have
already virtually defeated cho strong
Port side, and their main concern in
the game now is to reap the maximum
points for au outright win. It is their
last hope of a remote chance of playing
in the final.
North-East, the leaders, are also faced
with defeat, and as it is still possible
for them to be ousted from the premier
ship game, they will -be fighting to keep
Wests' margin of winning points to the
minimum.
In the third game South-East, who
have been performing miserable lately,
cannot hope to defeat Central, who have
lost so far only four wickets for 259
runs.
Following are the positions of il?/-
teams in each of the three Province
games : —
Port, 123, v. University, one wicket
for 117.
North-East. OS. v. West, one wicket
for 43.
