HALF HARPER TWELVETREES' SOAP POWDER
for cheap and easy Washing, without Rubbing the

"We confess we were surprised at the result of the
process. The linen was beautifully white, and the
washing, which formerly occupied twelve hours, was
over before breakfast." From the 'Mother's Magazine
for February. "
We gave your Soap Powder a fair trial, and it far
exceeded our most sanguine expectations. Our washing,
which used to take two women a whole day, is now
over easily in the morning, and the saving of time,

GLENFIELD PATENT S T A R C IL
London, August 23, 1860.
To Messrs. R. Wotherspoon & Co.,
46, Dunlop-street, Glasgow.
Dear Sirs-I have, as requested, to-day visited the
Royal Laundry, with reference to the advertisement of
the Nottingham Firm, who state that their Starch has
been used for many years in the Royal Laundry, and
have been assured by Mr. Thomson, the Superintendent,
that none but yourselves have any right to state
that they supply Starch to Her Majesty's Laundry, as
no other Starch is used there, nor has been used for
some years, but the GLENFIELD PATENT MARCH.
have been further assured that your Starch continues
to give complete satisfaction, and that, though
trial has been made of samples of various Starches, none
of these have been found nearly equal in quality to the
Glenfield. ' I
am, dear Sirs,
Your obedient Servant.

Election Notices.
TO THE ELECTORS OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
Gentlemen As one of the retiring members of
the Legislative Council, I beg to offer myself for re-
election.
Of my political principles I can only say it has been
my habit to weigh carefully each measure coming before
me, and vote with a single eye to the general weal of
the community, irrespective of class or district. From
this practice I will not swerve, and I can give no other
pledges.
If it be your pleasure to elect me, I will feel proud to
enter the House on the free and unbiassed suffrages of
my fellow colonists ; but should your choice fall on a
better man, I will cheerfully give place, as the general
welfare of a community, among whom myall is permanently
staked, is to me of far greater import than the
honor (great as it is of a seat in the Legislature.
I remain, Gentlemen,
Your sincere friend and servant,
ABRAHAM SCOTT.
