Co-optimists* Floral Fair
And Christmas Tree
A floral fair. Christmas tree, and
concert held in the Unley City Hall
banqueting room on Saturday after
noon and evening by the Co-optimiets'
Society to raise fund6 to alleviate dis
tress and nrovide Christmas cheer for
the workle=s and their families.
Mr. Dunks, M.P., in declaring the
fair open, said it was gratifying to
find men and women everywhere co
operating to relieve those who had
been placed in an unfortunate posi
tion tiirougi unemployment. There
was no doubt the depression had done
much to bring men and women to
gether to realise how much need
there was for co-operation.
Mr. W. H. J. Welch said the Co
optimists' Society was the outcome of
a few persons meeting together in
private houses two years ago for the
purpose of trying to help those less
fortunate than themselves. It i6 only
two years ago that the society was
formed. Last year bags of clothing
and £50 was disbursed among the
needy, the Mayor of Unley's relief
fund also benefiting. Buttonholes

cock by a junior optimist.
A thriving business was done at the
various stalls, which were in charge
of the following: —

Mrs. A. A. Andrew; camples. Master Jack

duce, Mrs. J. Howe; cool drinks, Mr. W. Berry
man; millinery and Hate, Mrs. D. A. Little;
Christmas tree. Mr. A. E. Shearer and Mis.
W. BerTyman

elocutionary programme was provideo by
Misses Ruby Burnett, Florence and Neule
Trenercy. Dorothy Fidock, and Bowen. Miss
Doreen Hood -was accompanist. In tbe even
Ing an excellent programme of musical and
elocutionary selections was contributed by the
Clenburnle Concert Party. Misses M. Thomp
son. C. Watson, and G. TrBfilnnar. Messrs. B.
Walker and J. Forsyth. and a ventrlloqulal
specialty by Henry Walker and bis doll.
