KENJIN WINS AGAIN
Chateau Boy Second In
Steeplechase
When Trafalable declined h!s engagement in
the Arnold Perry Steeplechase, backers were
undecided In regard to Kenjin. Night Jes
ter. Woodlace and Chateau Boy, but eventu
ally Night Jester was made favorite. The
Western Australian gelding put up a sound
race, but he tired badly in the straight, and
only just held Ground Swell out of third
place, behind Kenjin and Chateau Boy. Ground
Swell and Chateau Boy disputed the lead for
most of the Journey. Chateau Boy gained
the measure of Ground Swell at the six fur
longs post, and he cleared the last fence clear
of Night Jester and Kecjln. This pair then
caught Chateau Boy and Night Jester seemed
Iltely to win. Be did not sustain bis run,
however, and tiring badly was beaten by Ken
jin and Chateau Boy.
Kenjin. who had wan the Hurdle Race on
the same course on the previous Saturday, was
responsible for an even performance through
out, and provided he can run out the long
ourney he should take an important part in
he finish of the Great Eastern Steeplechase.
Woodlace. ridden by O. Wraight. was most
disappointing. He Jumped poorly throughout.
and never looked like a winner. Ground
Swell ran his best race so far, but be tired
over the last half mile.
