SPLENDID SHOW OP GOLD.
'The finest show of gold ever exhibited in any
town in the colony, nut exc -ptitig Ballarat.' remarks
the Ingl-Wiiod Advertiser, 'was to tbe seen lately
in the win low of the Bank of New South Wales.
It consisted of 1021 oz. Iglwt, all in nuggets,
obtained at the new rush. B±rlm. and iuclu lej one
na?{ret weighing ?liaoz^, an I another weighing
I75oz. A ind.-nificem aid tion ivis made to this
splendid sample ot the auriferous riches of Berlin,
in tbe shape of another number ot nuggets, weighing
in tin- aggregate 480uz . one piece alone weighing
286uz thus making tbe weight of the whole cullec
tiou now on view at the batik over 150Joz. The
whole of this cold hits been raised and purchased in
the short space of live tve^ks. a circumstance unpa
ralleled io the history nf alluvi.tl gold mining, and,
whit is very remarkable not an ounce of it wa-
procured by washing or crushing. But even this
line collection of nuggets does not give anything
like the whole anviucit. of gold obtained since the
opening of ihe 'new field.
