BRISBANE. - Toogooloowah re
ports that during tho week four deaths
occurred from cerebro spinal meningi
tis. Three were children, and the
fourth' a farmer named Brown.
Lieutenant-Colonel Seaforth Mac
kenzie, who for the last five years has
been judge of the Central Govern
ment at Rabaul and legal adviser to
the British Administration, states that
tho military occupation of our new
posse.-sion has lasted so long that the
German population has become quite
accustomed to being under British
rulo.

demonstration tho Rev. A. C. Place
said that the time had come when they

The police raided a tobacconist shop
in tho Valley, and caught two men
making bets with a bookmaker. At
tho Police Court Vincent Garnet, 20,
who pleaded guilty to keeping a com
mon gaming house, was fined £200.
Frank Gough, charged with assisting
Garnet, was fined £100. The two men
who were making bets were each fined
£2.
