GERMANY'S TERMS.
THE STATUS QUO ANTE
BELLUM.
NEW YORK, October 4.
The New York Tribune's" London correspondent
says it learns on excellent
authority that German agents have asked
King Albert to transmit peace terms to
the Allies. The Germans suggest that they
quit Belgium and Serbia, restore Lorraine
to France, and pay an indemnity for the
destruction resulting from the military occupation
of Belgium. The offer is not
normal, but is more definite than previous
overtures. The correspondent adds that it
is unlikely that anything will result from
this, which is probably a forerunner of
many peace overtures.
