'UNSETTLED AND^ULTRY.'
The Meteorological Bureau issued the fol
owing report at 9 pan. on Thursday:— The
:hief leature of interest on this morning's
weather chart was the pronounced sou
:hern movement of the monsoon whtich
since Monday has been hovering around
the north-western portion of Western Aus
irallia. Since yesterday, the tropical de
pression had developed in energy, and
moved toward the head of the Bight, and
it 8.30 a.m. cloudy and unsettled weather
was reported in the far west and north
west, and a little rain had been recorded.
During to-day the monsoon extended over
the-grea-ter part of the State, and cloudy
and sultry weather developed, with rain,
:hiefly in the west. Cool weatner prevailed
throughout the southern and coastal dis
tricts, but elsewhere the conditions -were
warm and sultry. At Adelaide the ther
mometer rose from- a tnimtmim of 47.4 to
1 maximum of 78.6 During the 24 hours
snded at 9 p.m., moderate to heavy rain
Pell over the western part of Tasmania, but
aver the continent only light and scat
tered showers were reported. This after
noon's reports show that since the morning
the monsoon has spread farther south
wards, and now embraces practicably the
whole of this State. Under its influence
cloudy, sultry, and onsetuled weather is
likely ?to-morrow, with scattered rain, and
a tendency for thunderstorms.
