DECEMBER 16.—The elections far East and West Malt-i

Liddell (esma to bave bad a very poor chance. Mr. Lee

THE WEATHER.—During tho last ,and present week
wo baye bid three heavy thunderstorms On Friday, a
man named Williams, a resident on the Williams River
whilst sitting at the window of his hut, was
struck by lightning and killed on the
spot. We have had a most delightful and refreshing
rain. Last Friday's hailstorm did serious damage to the
grape crop at Dalwood. At Branxton on Saturday, a
very valuable horse was killed by lightning. The crops
every where lock moat luxuriant.
POLIO» BU IHBIS.-A great many cases.havq been dis-
posed of at ibe police-court here Utily. The calender
for tbe next Griminal sittings of the Distils' Court to be
holden at Ibis town on 30th, January, will ba unusually
heavy. Already tbf-ro are several oases of stabbingand
ass-nits with inlet ttto do bodily barm. h
THE COURT HOUSE AND GROUNDS.—Tenders have
been aecepud by tbe Government (or the additions to the
Court-house;, also"ivir tbe (.enejçg , ja.,:,the'. grounds.
Wben these improvement» are aarried out the Court.

addition of aolcok would be a great boon to toe towns-
people.
