Kaiser Sanctioned
Executions*
LONDON, October 10.
Rumblings of disaffection in the German
Navy reached London eome time ago, but
at first they were not credited. Confirma
tion was_ obtained subsequently in a cir
cumstantial story concerning- the mutinies
in which the crews ,of five or six ehips, in
cluding the Nurnberg, were involved '
According to this report the Kaieer vkited
Wilhelmshaven and conferred with the
naval authorities. They discussed dis
ciplinary measures, and the commanding
officers agreed with the Kaiser to shoot
every seventh member of the crews im
plicated. The naval authorities, however,
dealt with the mutineers less drastically
because the Chancellor (Dr. Michaelis) re
fused to aRree to the execution of one in
seven of the men without the consent of
the Reichstag. ^
