SPECIAL AUDIT ORDERED
? , ? ;
- Bombshell For Ballin
Various matters have stirred thi
Fremantle Trades' Hall to its very
depths of late, and what is. apparently
the culmination . has eventuated
through a motion carried, without a -
dissenting voice, at a 'recent meeting
of the Fremantle District Council ot
the A.TJ.P. This motion was for thé
appointment of a special auditor to
conduct aa- extraordinary audit of the
books and accounts pertaining to the
Fremantle Trades Hall, for which the
i body named holds the major portion of
I the responsibility.
The main reason for the holding of
th« special audit ls alleged to be that
certain' amounts appearing in the fist
balance-sheet,' presumed to have been
' paid, had not been settled on the date
on which the balance-sheet was pre-
sented "to the council for adoption or
I otherwise. It is understood that, the
auditor appointed to conduct this spe-
cial audit ls Mr. F. H. Stokes, of Prin-
cess Buildings, Fremantle, and the in-
vestigation will probably start on Mon-
day..
As the matter may 'how, by reason
of this fact, be considered to a very
large extent -sob Judi ce, further com-
ment is withheld pending the receipt ol
the results of the special audit.
Periodically there has been much
publicity and talk attaching' lo bal-
ance-sheets and financial affairs In
connection with' various matters at-
taching to the Fremantle Trades Hall,
notably the earner administration of
the. Tom Edwards Fund, , the conduct
of the Fremantle. election . fund, etc.
The council has been commended for
adopting the above method to reassure
the rank and -file, which bas become
alarmed through persistent rumor.
