CADETS FOR THE EAST
The militar}' had entire possession
of Karrakatta ranges yesterday, when
the teams' competitions for thc 22nd
brigade of senior cadets were held. It
has been arranged for the team ad-
judged the best in this brigade to jour-
ney to Northam and compete there
Wednesday next with the areas of thc
21st Brigade, the winning team here to
leave for the East on Saturday next
to represent W.A. in the Common-
wealth cadet competitions to be held
at Melbourne in about a fortnight's
time.
Nine teams put in an appearance at
Karrakatta yesterday and were t»""1"
through general drill movements, phy-
sical exercises and musketry. After
a thorough trial the judges announced
that the Perth Modem School team
had run out winners, with" "E" Co.
(87b Subiaco) and "J" Co. (88e East
Perth) second and third respectively.
Considering the little practice they
have had, the lads acquitted them-
selves most creditably in the mus-
ketry section of their work, the shoot-
ing of the Modern School party being
mainly responsible for their success.
In view of this we should not be sur-
prised if the team picked to represent
W.A. against the other States at these
Commonwealth competitions should
prove itself a particularly hard nut to
- crack.
