, jour-iall Better Ball Against Bogey^
This was. played on the . holiday (Uondsy),
when members 'turned np in force. As each com-i
petitor wia. allowed out on his full bogey handi
cap, the poor old 'colonel,' as usual,- had not a
ghost of a chance. When these what might be
termed freak competitions art held. it. seems a
pity that special handicaps are not framed, so
that 'colonel' bogey, which is supposed to give
a good player- some kind of opposition, ^j not
riven assorting chaser. : These four balls should
le.plsyed against. the par of the course, a prac
tice which several dubs have- adopted, or the
players' handicaps cut down to halt. It. makes
he game look, ridiculous to read that pairs finish
8 or 9 up on bogey in a round of .18 holes.
