The Murray Bridge ''Club have, since its last
meeting, made a new survey of the course, which
is now railed around, and fresh food stalls
erected, and a telegraph station installed on
course. Messrs. ii. 1). Young. M.P., and A. C-.
McDonald have presented the club with the first
stake, £220, in the Brush steeplechase, and Mr.
W. li. "Richardson will present a trophy value
-55 250 to the winner of the Graziers' Welter.
The (Jan-Held trainer, D. J. Price, who is
in Adelaide with five rooms, hopes to be able
to welcome back on -Sunday his son, who enlisted
a long time back.
The latest report stated that the Randwick,
trainer. T. Payten, is improving in health.
Racing will begin on saturday a: 1st
Victoria Park. The times of the opening day
will be observed, and the Grand National
Steeplechase is the fifth event of the afternoon.
The Arrowfield studmasters, Me*>:6. V. and F.
A. Moses, have sent three two-year-olds to H.
J. Robinson, at Randwick. They are a halt
sister by Roseworthy to Lavendo, a colt by the
same sire from Longueville, and a filly by Earl-
ston from Velox.
When Glidful hit the fence at which he fell
at Caulfield on Saturday he partially wrecked
the obstacle.
The death is announced of the New South
Wales owner. Mr. John Irving. He founded a
stud at Tomki station, on the Richmond River,
and at one time he owned First Water.
The Cup horse, Nightwatch. is coming on in
his work. A. Flemington on Monday morning
he ran three furlongs on the tan in 36 sec.
' Christine has been leased, and he has gone into
C. T. Godby's stable at Mentone.
Tontilla. who claims full relationship to the
two-year-old Uepique. who ran in the Fulham,
Park Kate on Saturday. won the Corinthian
Handicap at the Melbourne Hunt Club meeting
at Moonee Valley on Wednesday.
The annual meeting of the Port Adelaide
Racing Club will be held in the Foresters' Hall,
Port Adelaide, this evening, at 7.45. The last
train leaves Port Adelaide for Adelaide at 8.23. "
Drumore. who took me to enter at Flemington,
in convincing style, is a four-year-old, by Wallace
from Ceria, a sister to Malture, and is
trained by P. T. Heywood. He has 1st 3 li).
in the Caulfield Cup and C st. 6 lb. in the
Melbourne Cup. In commenting on Drumore's
race, one writer states that his superiority- was
emphatic. At the bottom of the straight Dru-
more's chance appeared to be hopeless. but suddenly
getting a passage in the centre of the
course he stretched out in convincing style, and
beat Mudros by a fair margin.

of G. Jones' New Zealand team, comprising Mr.
"""J G. Stead and Mr. lil. Richmond's horses, who
did steady work at Randwick on Friday, are a
fine collection. Spanner is in appearance every
inch a first-class horse. He is a compactly
built bright bay, and shows any amount of
quality and substance. Surveyor, the Derby
candidate, 66 a loosely-built chesnut colt. he
resembles Kennaquhair very much, though he is
in no way related. Golden Bubble, who is engaged
in the A.JC. Derby and Metropolitan
is a fine, well-grown chesnut colt, by Absurd
(imp.), from Catch Fly, and will easily be recognised
by a large white blaze on his face
and a white hind leg. Susan of, who appears
we!'., looks just the same as when he was here
last.' Lady Italy is a nice, evenly proportioned
daughter of Demosthenes (imp.), and Sunlikc.
Her full sister. Delight a year younger, is built
on bigger lines. nationals (by Demosthenes, imp.
-Kangaroo) is a fine commanding colt with
'here white fetlocks, and looks every inch a
racer.
The imported horses. Shaded Light and Biddle
stone. are a promising pair. The former is
greatly fancied for the Epsom and Metropolitan.
He is beginning to shape well on the tracks.
The Derby colts. Pershore. Bigaroon, and Mil-
lime, are now coming on nicely. Pershore.
perhaps, has furnished most. and is a beautiful
colt. Cetigne, Arch Marella, and Amadio:, are
each doing veil. Devolu'ion, who is being given
a special Derby preparation, is moving in good
style. Kennaquhair. Ian Or, Prince Viridis, and
nests are all pleasing in their work, while
Biplane is going as well as ever, and should
soon account for a race. He is one of the most
popular for the Epsom Handicap.
Mr H. Coulter, of Adelaide, had his disqualified
tion by the Victorian Trotting Association removals
in -July last. Mr. Coulter is popular both with
racing and trotting men. He and his son have
taken stables at Kent Town.

BARRIER CLUB'S PROFITS.

The balance-sheet of the South Jockey' Club,
submitted at last night's annual meeting, showed
that during the year the others made a profit of
£400. The Chairman said the club did not intend
to race until the industrial trouble was
