WKSTKHN DISTRICT.
The Western District Synod was begun at
Moor.ta Methodist Church mi Tuesday, and con
cluded on Wednesday night. The' ministerial
session commenced on Tuesday inorninir. There
were present the Revs. J. D. Ungsford (Oiair
m.m of the District). D. 15. Uridjcwood. W. A.
Hainger, I!. J. Daddow, J. II. Williams. 0. liaise,
G. Hall. K. J. Piper. T. Flood. A. J. KInvli, J.
C. Hughes, S. J. Martin, S. J. Batten, I). C.
Harris, and S. T. Arthur. Dispensations til absence
were granted to the Revs. S. Raymond and W.
A. Dunn. The Chairman cordially welcomed the
newly arrived ministers in the district, and the
Synod, in its turn, welcomed the Chairman, and
congratulated him upon his appointment, to which
he suitably replied. The following oillccrs were
elected:— Secretary, Kev. K. J. l'ipcr; assistant
secretary. Rev. S. .1. Bitten; journal secretary.
Rev. T. -;. Arthur; reports. Rev. I). C. Harris.
A touching tribute was paid by several members
to the memory of the late Itev. H. Tcaguc, and a
resolution of sympathy to .Mrs. Tcaguc was unani
mously passed. The usual questions relating to
marriage and baptismal registration, probationers,
supernumeraries, doctrine, &c, were fiitisfactorily
answered. 'At present there were no proltitioncrs
stationed in the district, and no candidate) for
the ministry were brought forward. A long and
stimulating discussion on the work of (Jotf in
the district concluded the pastoral session. The
representative session was begun on Wednesday
morning, when, in addition to tiro ministerial
members, the following laymen attended- — Moon-

The district trust Eccvclary (Itcv. W. A. Dunn) pre
sented his report, which showrd that new erec
tions had taken place at Ii:i!ak!av:i, new church
at a cost of £1,000; South Hummocks rhurcli.

Additions have also been made to the church at
Tort broughton, Dowlingvillc; and :t church at
Big Swamp, Port Lincoln, was Kim tinned, to Ik;

the whole of this sum was voted to I'ort Elliston,
cn the understanding that the parsonage became
conncxional property. The income for Hie home

present prosperity of the Peninsula, the amount
was somewhat disappointing. Moonta and Kadina
Circuits distinguished themselves by sending in
£3 and £5 respectively above the amounts ex

serve the recommendation of conference with re
gard to occasional collections being taken in be
balf of the fund. Synod recommended conference
to transfer Dalkey from the Ttiverton to Balaklava
Circuit, provided the quarterly mceiings of these
circuits were agreeable. A discussion on tlie

rided to hold the next Synod at Maitland. In
