MELBOURNE. June 9. '
Wheat waa quiet to-day, with, small busi
ness, at 2/10i. Flour was quiet up to £6
15/. Bran fetched 8}d. to Sid. Pollard
realized 8$d. Algerian oats were worth
1/41 to 1/S. New maize brought 2/7 to
2/74; old do. commanded 2/8} to 2/9. Chaff
was weaker at 47/8 to 50/; extra prime
do. was worth 32/6. Potatoes changed
hands at 33/ to 40/. Onions bad sale at
£3 to £4. Parcels of 00 tons of Queens
land white sugar were sold. Saks of tea
covered 400 packages of Ceylon up to 9Jd,
SO chesU of Indian at 7i-L, and 300 half
chests of panyong- at 5Jd. Japan rice rea
lized £19. Currants brought 4|d. Sultanas
were worth up to 8Jd. Dates were sold at
5Jd. Ling fetched 4Jd. Caustic soda on
spot commanded £10. Canaryseed was
dealt in at £12 to £12 10/. Parcels of
500 boxes of D.R.O. candles were sold for
export at 4]d. f.o.b. Woolpacks of the
May shipment were sold up to 1/1L Bran
bacb brought 3/3. Kerosine was selling
freely at 8?d. to 9d. for trade lots. Castor
oil fetched 2/9$ to 2/10. Oregon pine was
tinner up to £6. Butter was rather more
active, and prime factory sorte brought
81d. and specials 8}d. to 9d. Eggs, 1/31.
SYDNEY, June 9.
Fair milling wheat was sold to-day up
to 1,000 bags at 3s., and the market was
very firm. Hottr brought £6 15/ to £7 2/6.
Privately 114 chests of Ceylon tea was sold
at 8d. to 8fcL, and at auction Ceylonsfehowed
a decided improvement, 440 packages being
cleared ai 8d. to lid. For China teas bid
dings did not reach the vendcaV limits, with
the result that the balk of the parcels offer
ins; were withdrawn. Parcels of 5,000 boxes
of tinplatcs were taken up to arrive at up
to 14/; on spot tUe market was firm at 14/9
to 15/. About 20 tons of white lead changed
bands at £27 5/ and £28 51. A consign
ment of 1,000 cases of Snowflake kerosine
jlizcd 8Jd. In currants 250 boxes brought
3;d.; 200 boxes of elemes realized old.; and
700 boxes of sultana raisins fetched 7d.
D.R J. candles in a parcel of 250 boxes were
sold at 5Jd. Cornsacks were worth. 6/3 on
spot. Braubags commanded 3/2}. Wool
packs of Hi lb. changed hands at 1/U
