A fresh bittlo has taken place between
the Chinese and Japaneso troops at
Yachan, a port in the Bay of Corea,
Tho fighting was of a very determined
and sanguinary character, resulting even
tually in a victory for the Japanosc.
Details of the conflict have not yet come
to hand.
Severe fighting between large forces of
Japanese and Chinese occurred on July
29 at Chung King, sorao distance from
Seoul, the capital of Corea. This engage
ment also ended in success for tho
Japanese army. The Chinese were put
to flight with tho loss of 500 mon killed,
several gunB, and some valuable stores.
Li Hi, tbe King of Corea, has sppointod
Prince Daikunsu to administer the
affairs of the peninsula. The Prince is
favourable to the inauguration of the
reforms demanded by Japan.
The Chinese fleet of thirteen warships
recently lent to Corea have returned to
Che-Foo. !
