PROBLEMS
CANBERRA-The Minister for
External Affairs (Mr. Spen
der) said last night that about
50 representatives of Common
wealth countries would attend a
meeting of the British Com
monwealth Consultative Commit
tee to be held in Sydney in
May.
Mr. Spender said the confer
ence would open on May 15 and
probably continue for a week.
Each Commonwealth govern
ment would be represented on a
ministerial level. It is expected
Mr. Spender will be leader of
the Australian delegation.
The conference would formu
late long-term and immediate
plans for practical assistance in
the economic rehabilitation of the
countries of S.E. Asia and a gen
eral raising of the standards of
living.
