BRIDPORT
MANY VISITORS.-It was estimated
that 1400 cars visited the foreshore at
Bridport on Boxing Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Jones, of Perth,
W.A., are staying with Mrs. David
Murphy.
Mrs. Haslope and her family are on
holiday, and Miss Pat Orr (Sydney)
is staying with them.
Mr. John Henry and his mother are
among the visitors.
Miss Northeast has a large party, in
cluding visitors from Melbourne.
FINGAL
TO HELP CHURCH.-A dance,
organised by Mr. F. M. Lattin, to raise
funds for St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church was held in Brown's Hall on
Christmas Eve, and was well attend
ed. The music was played by the
Cornwall Orchestra, and Mr. F. M.
Lattin was M.C.
LALLA
SCHOOL CONCERT, - The state
school year at Lalla closed with a
concert in the packing shed. Each
child was given a toy. Mr. J. D.
Burke, on behalf of parents and friends,
presented the teacher, Miss Hazel
Green, with a cut glass biscuit barrel.
She has been transferred to Wink-
leigh. The school has been closed, and
the children will be taken to Lilydale
area school in the new year.
PERSONAL.-Mr. Hilton Brooks has
been visiting Devonport.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Moore and family
have been spending a few days at
Sidmouth.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Johnston, of Burnie
have been visiting Mrs. Johnston's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brooks.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Brooks are visit
ing Mr. and Mrs. E. Broadllurst, of
Targa.
Mr. R. Burke is home from Derwent
Bridge for a few days.
Mrs. G. Quill is visiting her brother
at Bridgenorth.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Burke of Fresh-
water Point, have been visiting Mrs.
T. Burke.
MYRTLE BANK
CHRISTMAS TREE. - The state
school celebrated its break-up for the
holidays last Wednesday with a Christ-
mas tree at the Myrtle Bank Hall. The
children received gifts from the tree
and prizes were presented by Mr. R.
Skemp. Songs, recitations, and dia-
logues were rendered by the children,
and much appreciated by those present,
reflecting much credit on the teacher
(Miss Bartle), who has only been in
charge for a few weeks. At the close
of the evening supper was handed
round.
THE HOLIDAYS.-Christmas passed
off quietly here, as a large number of
residents had departed for their holi-
days. The usual picnic and dance were
not held. There were a fair number
of picnickers at Myrtle Park on Box-
ing Day, but showers setting in during
the afternoon curtailed their enjoy
ment.
MOORINA
SCHOOL BREAK-UP.-The annual
presentation of prizes was held at the
state school. All the children received
prizes, presented by Mr. Cliff Parish.
Special prizes were awarded to Leslie
Torley (dux of school), and for attend-
ance. Alf Mullins, Fred Mullins, Gwen
Mullins, Leslie Torley; Leslie Torley
for manual work; Len Boon popularity
prize.
PERSONAL. - Mrs. W. Gregson, of
Omeo, Victoria, is visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. H. Torley.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Barnes, and Mr.
Hedley Barnes, Yallourn, are visiting
their mother, Mrs. M. Barnes.
Mr. and Mrs. Millar and family, of
Westwood, are staying with Mr. and
Mrs. Ken Nobes.
Miss May Clark, of Launceston, is
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.
Clark.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Triflitt, of Hobart,
have gone camping with Mr. and Mrs.
H. Thomson at Tomahawk.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Amos and family,
with Mr. Harry Amos and Miss May
Clark, are camping at Tomahawk.
Miss Kath Sheean, of Derby, is the
guest of Mrs. McLennan.
Mrs. Johnson, of Williamsford, is
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wrankmore.
Mr. and Mrs. Burrows, of Priory, are
staying with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hall.
Miss Reid is spending the school
vacation in Victoria.

BIRTHDAY PARTY.-Mr. and Mrs.
S. Porteous entertained at their home
on Tuesday to celebrate the third
birthday of their son, Michael. The
young guests received presents off a
Christmas tree. Those present were
Elaine Yates, Jennifer, Rosemary, Doro-
thy, and Norma Bird, Fay and Joan
Whitehead, Esma Doherty, Valerie
Woods, Dorothy and Beverly Clay, Den

Mr. and Mrs. Hainsworth and their

Miss Vera Rosier has returned home
