G AlNTNSEMN REGISTERINO
PIANO.
WONDDRFUL DElMON$TRATION.
A recital of Gulbraiseen vocal end 'sn?
etrumendtal music was.given at the stand
of Findlay's on. the Show Grounds. The
apoommodatlon was efaxed to tihe utmost
by an appreciative body of music lovers,
who insistently de'manded ericore aftea
lencore.
'Theo feature of the day was a. demon.
stration of the Gulbransen Rlegisterin
Piano by Mr. S. Findlany. SIbinug with
eyes closed, one would be bonv?iced
when the new Gulbransen Registermg
Piano is being plyeod, that a master
hand has giving a wonderful rendition
of the inusie; it is extremely difficult
for the listener to realise that the
beautiful melodies hre the product of a
mechanica.l piano-meehanical only in its
action, however, and supremely human
in cadence, tone, and expression.
To the listeners there came readily the
revolation'that there was a true .mdium
of,human emotions, its notes ?efleoting
-every stimhus to which the mind of
man reaches. The secret of the keys is go
verned by Lte will of the performer, and
the naotes-csalways clear and true-may
sing carOssingly and softly, or sunge
forth in a triumpmant burst of sound.
So aceurately is the instrument con
trolled that accompaniments-hithdrto
perilous for Ile player piano-show the
Gulbranson at .its best. When the re
production of. John MacOornmck's voice
singing "Mlacushla' was heard timrnouh
the gramophone, and Mr. Wilks accorn
panied ithe song on the Gulbransen, it
was realised how faithfully in spirit.and
measure that necompaniment could be.
