To Professor Holloway,
Sir— I have much pleasure in informing you of a most
surprising cure' of dropsy recently effected by your:
valuable medicines. . Captain Jacksop, of this place, was
afflicted with Dropsy for upwards of eighteen months, to.
such an extent that it caused his body and limbs to be
much swollen, and water oozed as it were from his skin,
so that a daily change of apparel became .peceqBary, not
withstanding the various remedies tried, and. th« dine-,
reut medical men consulted, all was of no avail, until he
commenced using your Pills, by which, ahd a strict at
tention to the printed directions, he was effectually cured,
and, his health perfectly re-established. If you deem
this.'worthy of publicity you are at liberty to use it. '. ~

To Professor Holloway, , .
Dear Sir— 1 have great pleasure in forwarding to yon
the patticulars of a very extraordinary cure i of a bad
breast, effected solely by the use of yeur celebrated .Oint
ment and Pillsu Mrs. Martha Ball, of Pitt-street, in this
town, had been for a considerable time labouring under
nervous debility, loss of appetite, and general ill-health,
occaiioued by ulcerated wounds in the breast. Sbe had
ladmnch experience in the ni& of ail known remedies
or the owe of ulcers, but without any beneficial result;
n Tact she hod nearly lost all faith and hope of a cute
being effected. In this distressing and painful condition
of body and mind, she was persuaied to have recourse
to your invaluable Ointment and Pills, Whhh sh« imme
diately did, and in the eoune of a very short time the
effect produced was most astonishing; her appetite was
speedily improved, the sores and ulcers in the breast
gradually healed, and the nervous excitement of her
system was vholly removed.
. , . I remain, dear Sir, yours faith«ully,

mo THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF
X ADELAIDE.
Gentlemen— Mr. Solomon, in his address to you iu the
Register of the 11th inst., has stated that it has been
currently reported by his opponents that he is opposed
to the Real Property Bill. If amongst his opponents he ,
includes me, I beg most emphatically to contradict his ,
assertion. I have never stated nor insinuated that he is
opposed : to the Bill. In fact my address to you of the
7th inst. gives him credit for being a supporterof the
Bill, and by that address I leave itto yourselves to say
whether he is. or I am the best qualified, in the absence
from Parliament of Mr. Torrecs himself, to support any
amendments which he rosy suggest as being necessary.
Mr. Solomon asks, ' Did Mr. Smith support it ? 1 con
tend he did not, unless his walking through the roo.n at.
Mr.Torrens's breakfast can be construed into supporting
the measure.' At that time the Bill had become law and
required no support.- But, Gentlemen, the Bill was sub-,
mitted to me by one of Mr. Ton-ens' s friends, before it*
became law, and whilst Mr. Solomou was In Eng'and and
from the time of my first seeing it I declared myself favour
.- able to the principle of the Bill, and of which Mr. Torrens
is fully aware through the channel before alluded to, and
hod I been in the House I should have supported it. Of
natters of commercial and general importance I claim
a sufficient knowledge to be able to advocate jour in
terests in the House.' On the subject of emigration' my
views have been misrepresented. I had always, declared;
myself, since the Land Fund became our own property,
against any periodical influx of emigrants.- When w*
require labour, when the labour market is. bare,
then import labour, but not' till tilth. If our stock of
goods be sufficient for the supply «f the market, import
no more. If our labourers already here are sufficient to
do tbe work of the colony Import no* more;' TJutldo
hope that the time is: approaching when, by a- great ex
tension of our railways and oiher productive works' we
stiall require more labour, and when that state of things
arrives 1 shall be most happy, to support a further .im
migration. I am an advocate for free distillation. I am
?ab place hunter,- not even fur tbe'. purpose of forming
part of a Ministry ' of which Mr. Townsend would make
an eicellect Commissioner of Public Works.' (See Mr,
Hill's speech at Mr. Solomon's meeting on Friday last.)

ST. SAVIOUR'S. CHURCH:, . GLEN
? 03M0ND.— A gravely libellous advertisement (for
so I am advised it is) having appeared (it is to be pre
sumed by authority) jq the,Seji$ter' ol 13th September .
'instant, signed ' \V. C.' Belt, Depuiy-RegUtrar far the
Diocese of Adelaide,' notifying that in consequence . of
the alleged ri vocation by the Bishop of my licence, I am
no longer Incumbent of St. Saviour's, I reply— .
1. That the Trust-Deed of that Church expressly
exempts me, as the donor's present**, from the effects of
the regulation referred to. requiring the Incumbent to
hold the licence of the Biihep. The donor of the Glen
Osmond endowment, in conformity with an express
written stipulation, reserved to himself, and exercised
the right of instituting me to the Benefice bf St. Saviour's
in perpetuity,- iu tbe following express and emphatto
terms ' through the trusts imposed upon his sift:— That
the eajd Trustees ' peimit and sutler the said Frederiok
Cbarle's Plaits,- who is to be the first Minister of the said
Church, and after his decease, resignation, or secession
from the United Church of England and Ireland, permit
and' suffer such other fit and proper person (regularly
ordained in' Priest's Orders, and' duly licensed T-y the
Bishop of 'Adelaide) as shall from time to timo be sleeted
ili the; manner prescribed in the regulations, to officiate .
as Minister.' Hence the law of tho land continues to
enable me, as the legal and duly officiating Incumbent,
to make good my title to the (lieu Oimoad.£ndonmont. -
, 2. But assuming that the'rejrulatiou does, apply to my
incumbency, I affirm that, having been 'duly licented''
to a cure, in. itself perpetual, the revocation of my licence
by a mere arbitrary decision is beyond the Bishop's
jurisdiction. The Bishop cannot cxer.ise any act of dis
cipline over me— a'clergyraan ; much less can he eject
me from my spiritual luuctioas and my 'living, as an
arbitrary 'despot; His jurisdiction must be 'asserted
through the proper tnbuna1, provided by the laws of tho
Church, namah, the Conslstorial Court, which beldugs to
every : Bishop's diocese. ; ' ;
' Tha object of the advertisement is an ill-natured
attempt to deprive me of the sympathy and kind support
of my friends; and the public, in tbe erection of the.
Church at Glen Osmond. Confident I am, however, that
to condemn' a 'clergyman/ or any man, unheard— nay;
even to refuse him a copy of the accusation aud tbe name
of his accuser, and theu to harass and hound him on to
ruin by every process which con torture his mind or ex
haust his resources— is not a mode of procecdiug which
,the public 0 South Australia will approve. I intend
shortly to la; belbre the public a full uatement, confirm
Ing the accuracy of tho above facts.
