THE MONSOON. ,
This fine ship, chartered by the immigration
Commissioners for the conveyance of emigrants
from Liverpool, arrived on Tuesday morning
from that port: after a passage of 95 days.
The Monsoon is under the command of Captain
Wemyss, who has been for 20 years engaged in
the passenger trade, and, for about half that
period, in the conveyance of emigrants from
England to the Australian colonies. He
reports very favourably of his present charge ;
and Dr. Johnson, the Surgeon-Superintendent,
speaks in the same gratifying terms of the
emigrants committed, to his care. Dr. Duncan,
Immigration Agent, who paid a visit of
inspection at an early hour' on the day of arrival,
found the ship most eligible, and those on
board in a very satisfactory state of health.
Tie only cases of mortality during the voyage
were those of four infants, who are said to have
been suffering from diarrhoea at the period of
embarkation. ' Seven births occurred on
board. The official return is as follows : —
