Five Butchers
Fined For
Meat Offences
Fines imposed by Mr. W. J.
Wallwork, S.M., on five but
chers and a milk retailer in the
Perth Police Court yesterday
for breaches of the Health Act
varied according to their pre
vious records.
Robert Rooke, butcher, of
Woolwich-street, West Leeder
ville, who was said to have
had six previous convictions,
was fined a total of £25 with
£11/4/ costs, when convicted
of two charges of having sold;
understandard sausages.
For a single, similar offence,
Draffens, butchers, of Bar
rack-street, was fined £8 with
£5/18/ costs, the firm having
had five previous convictions,
and Frank Lee, of Wittenoom
street, East Perth, £2 with
£5/9/ costs.
Eric Sterrett, butcher, of
Albany-highway, Victoria Park,
was fined £8 with £5/9/ costs
for having sold understandard
mince meat, having twice pre
viously been convicted, and
Victor Raymond Harris, of
Albany-highway, Victoria Park,
for a similar offence, was
fined £2 with £5/9/ costs.
The remaining defendant,
John David Pope, of Hotham
street, Bayswater, was fined
£5 for having sold, under
standard milk.
