MR. CURTIN'S POLICY
"GROSSLY UNFAIR"
Tpr. Warner Repeats His
Charges
HOBART, August 12.
"It may be part of strategy that
only 50,000 men out of a total of
500,000 should be used for offensive
operations, but it is certainly no
part of strategy that do member of
the Militia may cross the Equator
or serve in New Zealand should she
be attacked," said Tpr. D. A. War
ner, endorsed UAP candidate for
Franklin, when he commented to
day on the reply by Mr. Curtin to
his broadcast "Calling John Cur
tin."
"Mr. Curtin has made no attempt
to answer my criticism, which was
of his policy, not of the Comman
der-in-chief's strategy," said Tpr.
Warner. "It was not part of stra
tegy but of policy that the 6th,
7th and 9th Divisions of the AIF,
which did most of the offensive
fighting, should be called upon to
do all the fighting in the future.
Mr. Curtin has not denied, and can
not deny, that this is his policy.
I maintain that this policy is grossly
unfair, not only to the AIF, but
to the Militia, which too rarely has
been given a chance, but which,
when given the opportunity, has
covered itself with distinction."
