WATER AT OLARY.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir— Notice has just been received thab the
Railway Commissioners have raised the price
if water for this township to 3s. 7d. per 100
gallons, as against Is. (id. formerly charged.
This is of course owing to their having to truok
from Hutton's Laeoon instead of Mingary.
My object in writing this is to point out that I
am being extra taxed at the rate of 2s. Id. on
every 100 gallons of water used by me because
Broken Hill has been supplied from the
Mingary Reservoir to tho detriment of
this larce and badly watered district. That
Broken Hill has a right to receive assistance
from South Australia cannot be gainsaid, but
are the taxjjayers of the North-East alone to
bear the burden of this extra tax, or will
Broken Hill separate from New South Wales.
and throw in their lot with South Australia ']
Trusting that this letter will induce the Kail
way Commissioners to reconsider the matter
and supply \w at the former charge, and thank
ing yon, Sir, for the space allowed me,
I am, Sir, &c.,
HARRY R. TAYLOR.
