ALBANY.
Twelve teams have entered for
the annual Great Southern Cricket
Carnival to be held on Centennial
Oval at Albany from January 26
to January 29. The carnival will
be conducted In A and B sections
and the favourite for the ton grade
is Tambellup-Cranbrook. This team
includes four players who have
gained State honours. These are
Morgan Herbert. Frank and Mer
vyn Bessen and Eric James.
Other Sports
BOWLING: The Albany Bowling
Club concluded its annual summer
carnival on Monday. Visitors in
eluded nmetropolltan players ann
members of the Collie, Tamnbrllup,
Mt. Barker and other country
clubs. The main event, the cham
pionshlp singles, was won by J.
Haydock, of Albany. The champion
pairs was won by V. King and A.
Angove, also of Albany, and a third
Albany victory was recorded in the
champion fours which was won by
Tetley. Grlmifths, Haywood and
Felton. Cousins and Gornall (Tam
bellup) won the plate Pairs and
Mrs. Heron and Heron won the
mixed pairs plate.

TENNIS: At the Eastern District
Tennis Club's grass. courts at Kel

doubles tournament was played.
Mrs. B. Bermingham won the wo
men's section from Mrs. Roberts
and A. Melvin won the men's from
J. Saunders.
The Narroglin Tennis Club beat
a team from the district pennaht
tennis association br 40 sets 333
games to 32 sets 305 games on
Monday.
GOLF: The fitrst of the open com
petitions conducted by the Albany
Golf Club on the Middleton Beach
links over the holidays attracted
a big field. Including many visitors.
The bogey eompetltion was won-by
R. LyOns, with one down, and the
Stableford event went to P. Davey
with a net 38.
