South Australiiu — Fine, clear, aud warm through
out, with variable winds, chierly northerly and
north-easterly. X/orthern Territory — liirtialiy
clouded, with rain recorded near coast.
Victoria.— Generally fine, with light and variable
winds and callus. Light rain recorded.— 0'OiO to
OSSU inch.
Tasniauia.— -GeneniUy tine, cloudy in south: li^ht
to moderate norih to west winds. Kaiufall— Hobart

Xe«- South Wales. — Fine and clear inland, cloudy
to threatening south coast districts. Light rain re
corded on south coast— heaviest 0-250 inch at. Kdea.
Queensland.— Cloudy generally; thre^itening or
heavy rain from Xomianton to Cooktowu, ami
isolated places elsewhere. Thunderstorms an:l
light to heavy rain recorded, many parts— eight
stations Iialf an inch to .'I iiches at Donaldson.
Xew Zealand. — Fine, but clotidy.at Kussell and
Bhiff, south-west winds; tine and 'clear at Welling
ton and north-west wind.
Weather Forecasts.
Issued 2 p.m. Saturday, January 3.
South Australia (for forty-eight hours ending
6 p.m. January 5).— Wanu, and tending to be more
or less unsettled and thundery; light to moderate
northerly winds, veering later to west with cooler
weather.
General Remarks.
The pressure fa fairly uniform over the whole {of
Australia— a moderately low pressure; throughout
the central portions being flanked by gentle rising
gradients east and west. There is also evidently an
extended area of very low pressure far south of the
continent, extending to Jfew Zealand, where (at the
Muff) the barometer is reading 29-1. The weather
is tine and clear throughout South Australia and
Victoria, showery in parts of Queensland, and
partially cloudy along the south coast.
