BREAK FOR BRITONS.
Week-end Holiday Exodus.
LONDON, Aug. 2.--Despite the
Government's urgent request that
people should stay at home for the
August bank holiday on Monday in
the interests of war transport, the
holiday rush began yesterday and
was in full swing today. The authori
ties of popular resorts warned the
public last week that accommodation
had been booked up and food sup
plies were uncertain, but the London
railway stations were as crowded as
in peacetime. It was necessary to
run the morning Cornish express in
seven sections and extra trains are
running all day to Bournemouth,
the West of England, North Wales,
Blackpool and in other directions.
Many people are visiting evacuated
children and relatives. The Ministry
of Transport says that trains are
liable to lengthy delays.
