BRITAIN'S BELLS.
Ban on Ringing Relaxed.
LONDON, Apill 20.--In the House
of Commoin today the Prime Minis
ter (Mr Churchill) announced that
the ban on the ringing of church
bells had been relaxed. Bells could
now be rung on Sundays and other
special days
The ban was imposed in June,
1940. Just after Dunkirk, when an
order was issued that the bells were
only to be used for the warning of
invasion. It has twice been lifted
for special occasions-to celebrate
the battle of Egypt and for Christ
mas last year.
"The lifting of the bah was pos
sble," Mri Churchill said, hin the
light of changed circumstances."
